A recent press release states that China Telecom iPhone 4S release is expected as early as February 2012. Since January is almost over, it is only a matter of days now before China Telecom starts officially selling iPhone 4S on its network in China.
Apple announced iPhone 4S last year. Shockingly this minute update over the iPhone 4 has become Apple's fastest selling iPhone to date. The company sold four million units in seven countries in just 24 hours. Last month Apple officially started selling iPhone 4S in its Chinese retail stores. Unfortunately on the day of release a riot broke out. Due to this riot Apple had to suspend in-store sales of iPhone 4S in China.
On the other hand, China Telecom iPhone 4S release has been slated for February. China Telecom is the People Republic's third largest network. The network has revealed in a press release that they are gearing up for a CDMA iPhone 4S launch in mainland China, in the month of February. China Telecom has already been granted regulatory clearance. Said clearance is required before the network can officially sell a device in China.
Currently in the Peoples Republic only China Unicom is selling iPhones on contract. When China Telecom iPhone 4S release finally comes through, it could prove to be a win-win situation for the latter. China Unicom is the second largest network in the country. Given the craze surrounding iPhone 4S, it looks like China Telecom may soon catch up.
China Telecom has not revealed any pricing details in its press release. It has only been said that the company is almost ready to start offering iPhone 4S on contract to its subscribers. The iPhone 4S units they will be offering are built specially for their CDMA2000 network. There's no doubt that people in China are anxiously awaiting China Telecom iPhone 4S release.
