An update to Corona 5.0.1 untether package has just been released in Cydia. This update will fix iBooks DRM issue on those iPhone, iPad or iPod touch devices which have been jailbroken untethered on iOS 5.0.1.

The Corona jailbreak has been single-handedly developed by French iOS hacking guru @pod2g. This exploit was initially released to jailbreak iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G and the original iPad untethered on iOS 5.0.1. To make the process easy, Corona package was made available in Cydia. Those who were already jailbroken tethered on iOS 5.0.1 could download this package and instantly get an untethered jailbreak. The Corona package has since then been updated multiple times to fix numerous bugs. Today's update which brings version number up to 1.0-6, will fix iBooks DRM issue.

What exactly is iBooks DRM issue? Apple programs some of its apps to crash when they detect that unsigned code is running in the system. Since applying a jailbreak means running unsigned code, issues with the iBooks app are often reported after a new jailbreak is released. Keeping in mind this security system we now know why text or images in some books, opened in iBooks app, would disappear without a clue. If the book in question has content which is protected by digital rights management, it will cease to appear. The Corona 5.0.1 untether update will fix this problem.

This works for everyone, even for those who are jailbroken untethered on iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0/5.0.1) or iPad 2 (iOS 5.0.1). Just launch Cydia and let it update. Simply search for Corona 5.0.1 untether. It is hosted in the BigBoss repository which is added by default in Cydia. The package is free, hit download and iBooks DRM issue will be taken care of automatically.
