The Absinthe iOS jailbreak tool has received a minor update. This tool will jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Absinthe can be downloaded on both Mac and Windows computers.
The Absinthe jailbreak is result of the combined efforts of jailbreak dream team. Legendary iOS hackers MuscleNerd, Planetbeing and p0sixninja joined forces with french hacker Pod2g. They joined his quest to release an iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for A5 based devices. Needless to say, when this jailbreaking royalty put their heads together, a release was possible in a matter of weeks.
Using Absinthe iOS jailbreak tool you can jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2. The iPhone 4S can be jailbroken untethered on iOS 5.0.1 as well as iOS 5.0. The iPad 2 can only be jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1. If you wish to unlock iPhone 4S, it is advised that you jailbreak iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0 rather than upgrading to iOS 5.0.1. It is possible that baseband related issues might surface when trying to unlock iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1. If your iPad 2 was previously jailbroken on iOS 4.3.3 using JailbreakMe 3.0, it is advised that you upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 and apply an untethered jailbreak.
