An iPad 3 Retina Display has been rumoured for long. Now it has been confirmed that Apple's next tablet is indeed going to boast an amazing 2048x1536 pixel display.
The hype surrounding iPad 3 continues to grow with each passing day. It has always been known that Apple will announce it's next generation tablet in March 2012. Very well connected sources confirmed last week that an iPad 3 release event can take place on March 7. Apart from that, a plethora of rumours regarding specifications and features have already been circulating on the internet.
In the not so distant past, images of alleged iPad 3 displays have been leaked. There have been conflicting report regarding an iPad 3 having Retina Display. Macrumors took the liberty of obtaining one such display and examining it under the microscope. They have discovered that this display contains exactly double the amount of pixels when compared with an iPad 2 display under microscope. Hence the confirmation that iPad 3 will have Retina Display.
Higher resolution photos could not be obtained. Since the iPad 3 display examined here is raw, there is no method available to power it up. However the image posted above clearly shows how one cluster on the iPad 3 Retina Display contains double the amount of pixels as compared to the iPad 2 display.
By this discovery it is extrapolated that the iPad 3 display will have exactly double resolution than the display of iPad 1 and iPad 2. Both previous iPads had 1024x768 resolution. In theory, a display having double the amount of pixels should output much sharper images.
March is fairly close and we just can't wait for Apple to reveal the official iPad 3 release event date. The iPad 3 is expected to feature a quadcore A6 processor, better cameras and 4G LTE support. Inclusion of an iPad 3 Retina Display does look very much possible now.
